Beach meets culture in San Diego

The temperate Southern California climate lends itself to a vacation spent outdoors in the midst of big-city culture in a beach-setting. At Marriott Vacation Club Pulse, San Diego, you’ll enjoy the charm of the city’s history blended with modern accommodations and amenities.

Inspired by the renowned Gaslamp Quarter, each suite is designed with atmospheric wood and metal finishes. Upscale appointments include separate living areas, limited kitchenettes and flat-screen LCD televisions. Owners can choose from suites with one king bed, or two doubles, and both room types include a sofa bed. Attached suites can also be reserved which accommodate up to ten guests.

Step outside to explore the bustling city atmosphere or take a short trip to one of San Diego’s many attractions ideal for both families and couples. Valet parking or self-parking is available, but an additional expense per evening. Getting around town is made easy with convenient public transportation via the San Diego Trolley, Metropolitan Transit System, Coaster train and the Pacific Surfliner.

For Couples

A romantic San Diego getaway begins with a trip to Balboa Park, an entertainment district decorated with Spanish architecture. Start by sharing conversation over coffee at one of the park’s cafés and explore dining options to fuel your explorations.

The city’s cultural narrative is manifested in the park’s 17 museums — stroll through the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, admire works at the Timken Museum of Art or wander the Spanish Village Art Center. Dedicated spaces enliven the performing arts in the park as well. Share a sweet moment at Shakespeare under the stars at the Old Globe Theatre or visit the world’s largest pipe organ at Spreckels Organ Pavilion.

Local foliage blends with international influences in the Balboa Park gardens. Reminiscent of the Moorish gardens of Ronda, Spain, the Casa del Rey Moro Garden features a replica wishing well from the Guadalajara Museum of Gardens. Make a wish, then visit the Japanese Friendship Garden — an expression of friendship between San Diego and its sister city, Yokohama.

Outside of Balboa Park, adventurous couples will revel in the excitement of a sea cave kayak tour for two. This kayak excursion showcases wildlife sightings at the La Jolla Ecological Reserve and views of seven different sea caves during a 90-minute tour.

For couples who enjoy foodie experiences, the San Diego Sunday Champagne Brunch Cruise begins at the Broadway Pier. During the two-hour expedition, a luxury yacht will whisk you away to enjoy gourmet brunch selections complemented by views of the downtown skyline. Or, embark on an extensive nine-hour Baja Mexico Winery and Vineyard Tour, where you’ll enjoy wine tastings and a behind-the-scenes look at three different wineries.

For Families

Boundless entertainment options cater to families as well. The San Diego Zoo is a must-see while in town, where you and your children can observe wildlife native to Africa, Asia, Australia and more. You can take a Skyfari® Aerial Tram to get a bird’s-eye view of the exhibits or hop on a guided double-decked bus tour that covers most of the zoo. Look for live animal encounters throughout the day for hands-on learning experiences.

Build, race and climb at LEGOLAND® California Resort, where beloved childhood toys come to life. Explore lands speckled with color, from LEGO® Ninjago® World to the Imagination Zone to Castle Hill. Kids can even board a real submarine surrounded by a vibrant, oceanic habitat. Adjacent to LEGOLAND is the SEA LIFE® Aquarium, with interactive displays, educational talks and up-close encounters with sea creatures.

San Diego’s youth-focused museums sit at the intersection of fun and education. Adults and children alike will revel in the interactive exhibits and 3D theater at the Natural History Museum (The Nat). It features myriad fossils depicting the story of our planet’s past, and a research collection of 9 million specimens. The New Children’s Museum also features interactive exhibits, where contemporary art creates a space to unlock creativity and spark imagination. After exploring the museums, end the day with a Padres game at Petco Park!

Other family-friendly options include joining a San Diego Dolphin and Whale Watching Sunset Cruise, taking surfing lessons, or, stay on dry land and have fun touring the nearby Gaslamp district on a Segway Tour.

There is so much to see and do from your home base at Marriott Vacation Club Pulse, San Diego. Whether you would like to enjoy a couples getaway or family-style vacation, reserve a stay in San Diego this winter!
