Visit Kyoto with Points
Make style and flair the cornerstones of your next holiday when you reserve a stay at Moxy Kyoto Nijo. As a Member, you can use your Points* to reserve a stay at Marriott-branded hotels via the Explorer Collection. Situated in the ancient capital of Japan, Moxy Kyoto Nijo is brand new — and the only Kyoto hotel available via the Explorer Collection.
Upon entering the open lobby, you’ll find contemporary furniture and a state-of-the-art video wall. All bedrooms feature 50-inch flat-screen televisions, and the hotel offers free WiFi, so you can plan your explorations from the comfort of your room. If you’re hungry, the Lobby Bar offers healthy bites for breakfast, then transforms into a space with wines and local beers in the evening. There’s also a spot in the lobby to get snacks 24/7, so you can enjoy a bite at your own convenience.
From your home base at the hotel, you’re well-equipped to visit nearby cultural attractions, such as Nijo Castle, Shinsen-en Garden, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Built in 1603, the Nijo Castle was the home of the first shogun of the Edo Period. The building’s palaces are some of the best surviving examples of the architecture from Japan’s feudal era, and the castle itself is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Just south of Nijo Castle, the Shinsen-en Garden is considered the oldest existing garden in Kyoto, home to the Shingon Japanese Buddhist temple. In the center lies a small island with a shrine to the Dragon Queen, accessible by a stone bridge and a curved vermillion bridge. Nearby, you’ll also find the Kyoto Imperial Palace, which was once home to the Japanese imperial family. Nestled in a quiet, wooded area, the palace offers respite from the bustle of the city.
